4-Year-Old Girl Seriously Injured In Crash At Busy Long Island Intersection

A child was seriously injured in an overnight crash at a busy Long Island intersection.

It happened on Wednesday, March 24 at 11:45 p.m. in North Amityville.

David Hernandez-Martinez, age 29, was driving southbound on Broadway with his sister and her daughter in a 2005 Toyota Prius, Suffolk County Police said. 

The vehicle was stopped at a red light at the intersection of West Smith Street when it was rear-ended by a 2009 Infiniti, being driven by Cheresse Myers, age 37, of Brooklyn, Suffolk County Police said.

Alexandra Ceron-Hernandez, age 4, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

David Hernandez-Martinez and Karen Hernandez-Gomez, age 21, both from Amityville, and Myers were transported to the same hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The vehicles were impounded for safety checks. D
